The Holy See Press Office announced on 7 August 2026 that Pope Leo XIV will make an apostolic journey to France from 25 to 28 September 2026, including a visit to the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris. The full programme is being released in stages.
Pope Leo XIV visited Spain from 6 to 12 June 2026, with stops in Madrid, Barcelona and the Canary Islands. He celebrated Corpus Christi, took part in the completion of the Sagrada Família's central tower in Gaudí's centenary year, and met migrants and aid groups in the Canaries.
From 27 November to 2 December 2025, Pope Leo XIV made his first apostolic journey abroad. In İznik he joined Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I to mark the 1,700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea; he then travelled to Lebanon on a visit centred on peace.
